This is a really interesting way of letting you all know what is new in our lives and what we are most excited about, what we are worried about, what we love and where we hope we are headed. We are two peas in a pod and we feel that God could not have put us together with a better mate in all the world. We are excited about the future, except at present we feel as if the metaphorical "Red Stop Light" is not just on but flashing in-front of our faces. As you probably know we went down to San Francisco in February so Mia could audition for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to hopefully get into a Masters program. Unfortunately, that was not the plan for the next two years of our lives. And still are very much confused as to the direction we are supposed to be heading. Many interesting things happened when we were down there...for one, we got asked to help this university choir record their first CD. Through this we received a job offer to come and work for the University as adjunct university professors....pretty cool...and the second was that Nicolai's dear friend and mentor, Peter Neuman, invited us to help him run his Bayside Academy of music. We thought, "wow, what does this all mean??". Wonderstruck and seduced by the Californian sunshine we jumped quickly into thinking, "this must mean we're meant to go here...". Now we are not so sure. 1 school rejection and almost a month and a half later we have no better idea of what the future holds than before we left for the sunny state.
On another note, Mia sang at the Kiwanis Festival this week...the same week she got rejected by SFCM. She won two golds, two scholarships and one 2nd place red seal and received a medal. Here is a description of them:
Gold in the Advanced Oratorio Class
Gold in the Advanced Recital Class
2nd Place in the Provincial National Class
The Frank Manzara Memorial Scholarship $100
The Polyna Savridi Memorial Scholarship $300
and the Bernard Memorial Medal
How cool! How timely...Thank you Jesus!
It seems as if a funny circle of events. Rejection to Elation and again to Humility...
We've learned this week also that doing the right thing is more important than receiving glory on earth...We are learning so much from each other and our life experiences right now, we are thankful for all of it!
Stay TUNED!
